This logo was created for a TEDxSalon event sponsored by the University of Akron, in which I was also a speaker. The theme of this event was biomimicry as seen through both a designer and biologist’s point of view. In addition to the play on words, a common pattern in nature is also portrayed: The golden ratio. This spiral is found in many places in the natural world, including shells, rose petals, and even our own anatomical proportions, making it a popular reference for artists as well.
